a community of Faith, Love, and Hope
Mosaic is a community of followers of Jesus committed to live by faith, to be known by love and to be a voice of hope. We began our first public gatherings with only a handful of people in the Fall of 2007. Our aim was to bring dignity to humanity’s spiritual journey and to empower people to create a better world. Asking the question ‘What’s your passion?’, we launched with the vision of not simply ‘doing church’, but really trying to empower people to ‘be the church’ for the world.
As of the Spring of 2010, we are a community of urban professionals, young families, students, dreamers, artists and activists. We serve in a number of arenas meeting a wide range of needs, both locally and globally. All of these efforts were born of our people, their passions, and the needs of the community around us.
We currently host Sunday Gatherings in north Berkeley every Sunday at 5pm. We also host a number of small groups (called ‘Freeform’) across the East Bay.
Our name, Mosaic, comes from the diversity of our community and from the symbolism of a broken and fragmented humanity being made beautiful under the artful hands of God. We welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey.
Mosaic in Berkeley is a part of the larger Mosaic community based in Los Angeles. In that sense, ‘our story’ is much bigger and more detailed than what we’ve written here. To connect with Mosaic in Berkeley is to connect with a movement of people throughout California, across the US and around the world. For more information about Mosaic LA, click here.
