FAQs

What is Mosaic?

Mosaic is a community of urban professionals, activists, young families, and dreamers committed to the future.

What does that mean?

Basically, we want to bring dignity to humanity’s spiritual journey and to create a better world along the way.  Together, we believe that can happen.  We care about humanity, about what ‘could be’, and about empowering one another to use our passions to serve the world.

Exploring beauty, human creativity and spirituality, we take our cues from Jesus.

So, is Mosaic a church?

Yes.  Well, kinda.

It depends on how you define ‘church.’  We don’t have a building or a choir or a political agenda.  But we do have a Hope that inspires us – that moves us forward in life.  We also have the collective dreams of one another – we’re a community – and we look to Jesus to realize those dreams, one choice at a time.  He is our inspiration and Hope that a broken and fragmented world can be made beautiful.

Regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey, know that you’re welcome in our Mosaic.

I’m not religious or a Christian, do I fit?

You don’t need religion or a set of answers agreed upon to experience Mosaic.

All you need to belong is…

Well…

You.

Is Berkeley’s Mosaic connected to the Mosaic in Los Angeles?

Yes.  Mosaic in Berkeley launched out of Mosaic LA in the Fall of 2007.  The Mosaic Berkeley community is still a part of the larger Mosaic community based in Los Angeles.

How do I get involved?

The best way to connect at Mosaic is to serve.  We support a variety of causes and Projects, all of which are open for anyone to serve.  We also host small group communities called Freeform, click here for more info.  Finally, we’d love for you to be our guest at one of our Gatherings.  We currently hosts two different Gatherings: one ‘Downtown’ Gathering on the first Sunday of the month and the other ‘UnPlugged’ Gathering in north Berkeley all other Sundays of the month.
