Our Values

The Church is a Movement

People Matter Most

Mission is Why the Church Exists

Mosaic exists for the benefit of others.  Throughout human history, God’s mission has been to reconnect people with Himself.  In fact, people matter most to God.  We believe that the church is commissioned by God to champion this cause.  That is why Mosaic is a movement, not an institution.  The metaphor of WIND signifies our desire to follow the ‘ruach’ or ‘pnuema’ (Spirit) of God in His quest to reconnect people to Himself.

Love Permeates Everything

Love is the Context of all Mission

Our motive is love.  Life is relational, not programmatic.  Like you, we value community over buildings and connection over programs.  We also affirm that it’s impossible to love God and not love people.  So, regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey, know that Mosaic is a community where you can belong.  The metaphor of WATER signifies our longing to be drenched in the love of God and immersed in a loving community along the way.

Passion Fuels Action

Structure Must Always Submit to Spirit

Spiritual communities are meant to be empowering, not controlling. Our aim is to empower people according to the unique passions God has given them.  Because God dwells in people, our structure will always submit to the leadings of His Spirit. When you’re connected to God, you can trust your passions.  The metaphor of WOOD signifies that God is the source of life (the vine) and we (the branches) find life in staying connected to Him.

Relevance Communicates Truth

Relevance to Culture is Not Optional

We strive to be relevant to culture because God is relevant to all cultures.  In fact, the most beautiful things among us are but reflections of His beauty.  As a community, we long to engage with and create culture in thoughtful, relevant ways.  Being relevant just isn’t optional for us.  The metaphor of FIRE reflects the image of God as a consuming fire; wherever you’ve been, wherever you’ll go in the future, the fingerprints of God are already all over that place.

Character Creates Change

Creativity is the Natural Result of Spirituality

As a person draws nears to God, his or her character changes.  This doesn’t happen in a vacuum.  We don’t just remove ‘bad’ aspects of our character.  No, we replace them by creating ‘good’ in their place.  In fact, creativity is the natural result of spirituality – creating a better world than the one you find yourself in.  The metaphor of EARTH represents how our character, like soil, is context for what will come out of us.
