Mosaic is a faith community living in the way of Jesus.
We are urban professionals, families, students, artists, and regular people. We believe God is renewing everything – His relationship to humanity, our relationships with one another, and everything we care about in life. In short, we believe God is making all things new. As you consider Mosaic, we invite you to consider the possibility that God wants to make you new as well. We believe He wants to bring you wholeness and freedom. More than that, He wants to use your life to bless others.
This is our aim: to Join God in the Renewal of All Things. We’re less concerned with ‘growing a church’ and more interested in blessing our neighborhoods, work places and cities with God’s love and renewal. We do this by trusting God, loving people well, and using our gifts and talents to create a better world.
The formal rhythm of our community looks like this: Gatherings, Missional Communities, and Discipleship Relationships.
Most Sundays, you can expect our community to gather and celebrate what God is doing. Corporate worship is important because it lures us away from the trappings of ‘same stuff, different day’ kind of living and reminds us again of the purposes of God in the world. It’s an opportunity to celebrate God’s love and renewal with one another. It’s a place for story telling, prayer and worship.
Mosaic Missional Communities are families of missionary advocates committed to bringing renewal to a specific people, place or domain. MCs are families because they commit to being known, challenged and invested in a mission. They are missionary advocates because they join God in a specific work of blessing or renewal. We currently have a handful of MCs within Mosaic. We hope to plant 2-3 new communities annually.
Jesus didn’t say, ‘Go plant churches.’ He said, ‘Make disciples.’ Mosaic is no exception. Throughout the year, we offer various seminars, leadership development forums and mentoring intiatives to equip people to better join God in all of life. In April 2013, a focused effort on spiritual growth and discipleship launched called, ‘Way of Life.’
Mission is Why the Church Exists.
Mission is God’s overarching work of Renewal in and through human history. It is God restoring the world back to His original purpose. It is why Mosaic exists.
Rev 21:5, 2 Cor 5:17, Col 1:20, Matt 19:28
Love is the Context of all Mission.
At the epicenter of God’s renewal is love. He loves us completely, regardless of our past. Joining Him means joining a movement of love and grace.
John 13:34-35, Romans 12:9-10, Phil 2:4
Structure Must Always Submit to Spirit.
Spirit-led community is empowering, not controlling. We put our faith in God, not in the institution, the strategic plan, nor in any man-made plans or wisdom.
John 14:26, John 15:5, Acts 1:8, Eph 4:3
Relevance to Culture is Not Optional.
God put on skin and dwelt among us. He became relevant to our story so that we could join Him in His story. Our church must do the same.
1 Cor 9:19-23, John 3:16-17, John 1:14
Creativity is the Natural Result of Spirituality.
The more we know and love God, the more His renewal touches our lives. Inevitably, all our gifts, talents and passions begin to be used for His purposes.
1 Peter 4:10, Eph 2:10, 2 Cor 5:17-21
Our Core Convictions
The Scriptures are God-inspired & authoritative.
There is one mediator between God & man: Jesus.
The local church is God’s change agent for renewal.
Every follower of Jesus is called & gifted by God to join Him.
We’re less concerned with ‘growing a church’ and more interested in blessing our city.
We gather nearly every Sunday morning at 10:30AM at 1221 Marin Ave in Albany, 94706. Childcare & children’s ministry is provided.
Again, corporate worship is important because it lures us away from the trappings of ‘same stuff, different day’ kind of living and reminds us again of the purposes of God in the world. It’s an opportunity to celebrate God’s love and renewal with one another. It’s a place for story telling, prayer and worship.
* Security — Mosaic uses an online database called Fellowship One for Online Giving. Their system allows you to make donations online and gives you access to your contribution records at any time. They provide all of the security for the system. This system is secure – as it is used by churches throughout the country and has been fully tested by them. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any issues or questions.
If you don’t tithe or have never seriously considered giving to the church, we challenge you to try it for three months. During that time, we encourage you to do three things: (1) Take a risk and give 10% of your income as an offering to God, (2) Every time you give pause, pray, and thank God for all the resources He’s given you to give from, and (3) Take notes and observe what God shows you along the way. At the end of the challenge, tell us what you’ve learned and how God’s moved through your giving. We’re confident God will surprise you at just how easy and joyful regular giving can be in your life.
